Disappointment

This app consistently informs you that it isnt yet ready to display half of the content from edx. Not useful. Sends you to a browser window all the time, and you might as well not use it.

Thank you EdX!!

Just what I needed.

App is great

If your serious about studying the info please download the app. Pay no attention to the stupid one star ratings. If you are complaining because it doesnt work on an iPad it doesnt seem like your too interested in the info you are trying to study but just trying to find an excuse not to do it.

Great site, but app is useless.

I have been a member of edX since it started, its a great site. The application is useless at the moment. I cannot use it on my tablet, which is why you need an app so you dont have to go through a web browser. The app freezes a lot, I cannot scroll through my courses. There are many courses that dont even have content through the app, but is available on e actual site through a web browser. I would appreciate if their was a way to search through your courses rather than going down the whole list.

This is great! No problem on IPhone at all. Adapted to mobile no problem

Everything works perfectly, I feel bad for the people on iPads but its their own fault

iPhone only

In this day and age, edX continues to be an iPhone only app that looks terrible on an iPad or iPad Pro. Maybe the edX programmers should take an online class on iOS app development do they know how to write an universal app.

Video Player Problems Plague Experience

The most recent version (2.2) of the iPhone app for edX has been rife with video player issues. With downloaded videos, the use case Im most familiar with, the video player no longer allows me to turn my iPhone on the right side--requiring landscape mode only functional by turning the iPhone on its left side. Now once watching a lecture in landscape mode, whenever I get a notification from iOS or another app that puts up a banner, the edX app jumps to portrait mode and stays there until explicitly expanded back to landscape mode, repeatedly for every notification. Also, after the app updated, all my previously downloaded lectures had been deleted. The video player still does not have autoplay in downloaded or regular mode, similar to the Coursera app.

App icon is not loading

Despite the recent updates, the app icon is not displayed in my iPad. Ive uninstalled it and installed it gain but the issue remains. It would be good to have a native iPad version too.

A nice effort but...

I appreciate the work that edX and their developers have put into this app. For the most part it works great, though like others have said, it looks pretty awful on an iPad. The other problem is that there is no search function in the app to find new courses. You have to use the browse feature, which makes finding a specialized subject really difficult. To add insult it injury, if you do enroll in a class, you lose your place while browsing, so its back to the drawing board every single time. I find that I often just open their site in Safari and search and enroll there, rather than messing with the app.
